SOPPHIA began in 1987 as its predecessor company BHM International, Inc. For twenty-five years, SOPPHIA has provided management and management consulting services to government agencies, under the leadership of Bernard Brookes, PhD, MBA. Trained in psychology and business administration, Dr. Brookes has led SOPPHIA with the principle that organizational performance is based on the competecies such as emotional intelligence, business and technical skills, of its  leaders and employees; as well as the capabilities of its systems, including information systems and business processes. SOPPHIA customers have included the US Army, US Marine Corps, US Force, US Office of Personnel Management, and US Department of Health and Human Services.
